Welcome to Episode #251 of The Secrets of Supermom Show!

✅ What You’ll Learn in This Episode

  • Why your schedule feels like it’s “too much”—and how to change that
  • The 5-step system to create a supportive family schedule
  • Tools and strategies for family calendars that actually get used
  • How to identify what really matters (and what to cut)
  • Ways to automate, delegate, and systematize your weekly routines
  • Why weekly planning is the secret weapon for busy moms

🧭 Step 1: Create a Master Family Calendar

If you don’t have one single place where all your family events live, you’re almost guaranteed to feel overwhelmed. Whether it’s a whiteboard, a fridge calendar, or a digital tool like Cozi, Google Calendar, or Skylight, what matters most is that it works for your whole family.

Include:
✔ School drop-offs and pickups
✔ Sports and extracurriculars
✔ Work travel and meetings
✔ Family events and appointments
✔ Babysitters, date nights, and self-care time

“It doesn’t matter what tool you use—as long as your whole family can see and use it.”

✂️ Step 2: Cut the Calendar Clutter

Once everything is on the calendar, it’s time to take a hard look at what’s really necessary.

Ask yourself:

  • What absolutely has to happen this week?
  • What can wait until next week or next month?
  • What’s draining our energy but not adding value?

“Just because it fits on the calendar doesn’t mean it fits in your life.”

If everyone in the family feels overburdened, it’s time to cut—period.

🔁 Step 3: Automate and Delegate

Let go of the myth that you have to do it all yourself.

Here are some real-life automation and delegation ideas from Lori:

  • Use a rotating 7-day meal plan to simplify groceries
  • Automate grocery lists or use a delivery service
  • Block 30 minutes weekly to handle forms, projects, and reminders
  • Assign chores or responsibilities by age and skill
  • Let kids prep their gear the night before (yes, even the little ones!)

“If everyone knows what to expect, anyone can jump in—and that changes everything.”

📆 Step 4: Plan Weekly—Every Single Week

Weekly planning is the glue that holds everything together.

Block a dedicated time each week (Lori does hers on Fridays!) to:

  • Review upcoming events
  • Confirm rides and logistics
  • Make adjustments
  • Cut or delegate as needed
  • Check that priorities still align

“A weekly planning habit keeps you out of the daily scramble—and puts you in control of your time.”

🧠 Step 5: Ask the Big Question

Once everything is planned, take one more step: pause and reflect.

Ask:

“Does this week reflect what matters most to our family?”

If family dinners, small adventures, rest, or connection are important to you—but nowhere on your calendar—that’s a sign it’s time to make a change.

Not every family needs downtime, but if you do, you have to protect it.

💡 Quick Recap: Your 5-Step Scheduling Strategy

  1. Build a master calendar that everyone can access
  2. Cut the clutter—ditch what doesn’t serve your family
  3. Automate and delegate as much as possible
  4. Plan weekly to keep things running smoothly
  5. Check alignment with your real family priorities
